This site features a group of artists who are the first generation Chinese immigrants to the United States. The artists included are not limited by the dimensionality (2 or 3D), style (abstract or representational), or medium (oil, watercolor, or Chinese ink) of their work, but are common in their pursuit in bridging the cultural divide between the East and the West. Having grown up in China, Taiwan or Hong Kong, they have thoroughly absorbed the traditional Chinese culture and aesthetic values. Their prolonged residence in the United States enables them to participate in the Western society and art community. Their art can indeed be viewed as the first cycle of reverberations from the impact of these two cultural forces.
