Kang L. Chung is an artist. He is also a son of nature. By describing it in colorful brushstrokes, he brings to us an emotional intensity. The works he creates are not external representations based on bare objectivity. Instead, they reflect the deep feelings and the accurate and intricate observations of the artist. In them, there is an expression of harmony and unity between Man and Nature.
He uses his brush like a surgeon uses his scalpel. Chung analyzes the detailed structure of elements in Nature, and discovers the interior life in them. In his microscopic observation of the variations of light and shadow triggered by sunlight, he captures a beauty that cannot be achieved by artifice.
On paper and canvas, he forms grand symphonies with the images of steep rocky mountains, knarled ancient branches and roaring water falls. The viewers are led to travel through his vision to experience Nature -- be it demure, heroic or mysterious.
The world under his brush is one that is clean, lucid and brilliant. It is also lively with possibilities. Its galloping energy never ceases to turn. This is a world in which the materials in nature and the Spirit of man marry and become one.
The artist Chung believes that life knows no end and that his search in Nature and art will not stop. This quality assures us that he is on his way to even greater success.
